On a hot summer day, enjoying a heavy red wine gets a little harder. Admittedly, on days like this, I will often crank up the AC and still pour myself a nice Cabernet! But there’s something about sitting outside, feeling a warm summer breeze, and lifting a glass of crisp, chilled Rosé to your lips.
If that sounds like a good idea to you, then consider filling that glass with Coppola’s Sofia Rosé. Everything about this wine is beautiful: the bottle, in an elegant, voluptuous shape; the color, a deep rose petal hue; the aroma, nicely floral with a hint of strawberry; and the flavor is perfect on a hot summer day, not too sweet, but full and flavorful, with more strawberry, some raspberry notes, and a hint of vanilla, with a dry finish.
Legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola named this Rosé after his daughter, Sofia, herself an accomplished director and filmmaker. He tasked winemaker Corey Beck to produce a crisp, delicate wine similar to what is enjoyed on the French Riviera. Sofia Rosé is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Pinot Noir, with grapes sourced from Monterey CA. It is less than 13% alcohol, and received 90 points from Wine Enthusiast, who named it their editor’s choice. It is also on the wine list at Tavolo Wine Bar and Tuscan Grille, where you can try it tonight!
On my five-cork scale based on taste and value, I give Coppola’s Sofia Rosé 2015 four corks!
